Making Real Food, Really Fast

Real Food Fast

There's no lack of burgers out there these days, but in Metairie the soon-to-open Atomic Burger (3934) Veterans Blvd.; TheAtomicBurger.com) is aiming for a niche it could make its own: burgers with hand-made quality served at the speed of fast food, and from a drive-through window, no less.

The brothers Joe and Nick Spitale explained their idea for Atomic Burger was to being with "real food" and find a way to make it fast.

"The burger market is crowded," Joe Spitale said. "Americans are desperate for something better than fast food can offer, but the fast-casual places leave a lot of money on the table by not having a drive-through."

Atomic will serve burgers made with beef ground in house, hand-cut fries and milkshakes made using liquid nitrogen, which freezes ingredients ultra-fast.
