Atomic Burger: New restaurants in New Orleans
Atomic Burger has a retro space-age design. It looks like a place where Buck Rogers would stop for a bite while running errands on Veterans Boulevard.
The bright red menu board behind the register lists burgers, sliders and fries. But all eyes are drawn to the milkshake machine enveloped in a white cloud like a rock band with their smoke machines running at full blast.
With an injection of super cold liquid nitrogen, the ice cream base is converted to a thick milkshake in a matter of seconds.
The burgers use beef ground at the restaurant. Sliders can also be ordered, either in a classic configuration or topped with "bacon-onion jam" or roasted poblano peppers. Non-redmeat eaters are taken care of with a turkey burger and a portobello sandwich.

Atomic Burger unapologetically makes fast food. But the quality harkens back to a time before fast food arrived frozen and preprocessed. The decor isn't the only thing at Atomic Burger that's a little old-fashioned.
On the menu: Hamburger; bacon cheeseburger; Jamburger slider with bacon-onion jam; chili cheese dogs; hand-cut french fries; edamame; Atomic Freeze milkshakes.
